I think Noli only exists in the food court. But if you grab one of the nice booths against the wall, it feels like a sit-down restaurant.

Here's another suggestion for your date night: Poppi's Anatolia. Check out my review somewhere on this website. It's an interesting little place. Mrs. E is not completely sold on it, but I enjoy it each time. Plus we have "buy one, get one free" coupons for that place, so that helps too!

Special dessert: I just got back from jogging, so the last thing I need is dessert calories. ;-) Thanks for the offer though.

Is Noli in another location or just the food court? If it is a sit down we will have to try it officially. I can totally understand the Casablanca thing. My Hubby spent 2 years in Mexico eating off taco carts, so unidentifiable meat in a box, thrown on a grill is right up his alley. I make him try stuff first and if he doesn't die, then I can be pretty adventurous. (the Greek place across the room sells some of the same foodstuffs but they looked a little too food courtish for his tastes. We had the hardest time finding a restaurant for this date-thing. Most reviews (yelp, Uspoon...)give too little info on not only the food but atmosphere as well. keeping my fingers crossed for that 6pm where are we eating tonight category on Eugenified
p.s. any dessert requests I've got an in with the baker?

Totally agree that the 5th Street Market food court is a great place to eat. Like you said, plenty of choices and no pressure from waitstaff. Also, I would add, no tip required...woo hoo!

Noli, by the way, is my favorite Italian restaurants in Eugene. I have eaten there 15 times in the last 6 months. I know that for sure because I am on my 2nd "buy 9, get the 10th free card" and have only 4 spaces to fill before I get another free meal. I will write a review of Noli one of these days. I have never dared to try Casablanca yet because it looks a little too "hippy, i.e. unprofessional, a.k.a. upset-stomach-inducing"...sometimes an open kitchen can work against a restaurant. I had a burger from Marche Cafe once, but it was a little too "foo foo" for my taste. Prefer the big chunky monstrosities from Cornucopia.

Visit to Wagon Yard BBQ is planned for early next week. Yum!

Hay I had to tell you about a date-night adventure (food adventure, lest you think I'm a creepy weirdo.) I hope this spot is ok for this kind of thing...crossing fingers and smiling imploringly. Hubby and I went out for our anniversary the other day. We were looking for a Chinese restaurant that had a nice atmosphere and good reviews (didn't find one, maybe you could recommend?) so we ended up going to fifth street market area which had lots of anniversary date potential: Belly, Cornucopia, Red Agave, Marche'... We decided to walk around and look at shops for a while and stumbled upon the International Restaurant area which is (I guess) the fifth street market's food court? I have been to tons of mall food courts down-home to up-scale malls and this has to be the funnest time I have had in a food court. The food was very very good by mall food standards. The fun part of this adventure is that hubby and I nibbled at each of the little food booths: Beggars banquet (soup, cheese, fruit and a bit of baguette) from the Marche' kiosk, Caprese salad from Noli and the Lamb Shawarma from Casablanca. We just nibbled, talked and people watched in one of the big booths for the rest of the evening. There was no pressure to finish the meal from wait staff as we brought our own food to the table. We had a totally uninterrupted meal in a cozy booth stayed as long as we liked and had some very decent(if eclectic)food. You should start a date-night category so we don't have to wade through all the bad reviews (Not that your bad reviews aren't totally entertaining.) You know when we are trying to find a date-night dinner and it's already 6pm Saturday night. just a thought. We love your blog, keep up the good work.

"how to get stale beer smell out of cooler"

Absolutely hilarious and I hope not a typical question of Eugene residents LOL!

Great site BTW. First time here..

Glad you enjoyed your reading. Agree. Wagon Yard is a must visit.

Speaking of Howling Coyote, I visited the old location today to try out Taco Time (the new tenant). It still smells very strongly of Howling Coyote inside that place. Unfortunately, that did not improve the quality of the food served by Taco Time...See quick review here: http://eugenified.com/reviews/taco-time/
