Quick Review: Gary’s Coffee is a nice quiet little shop that serves delicious cappuccinos and lattes. The best tasting in all of Eugene. I don’t understand why their espresso drinks taste so much better than the other players’ in Eugene (Beanery, Wandering Goat, Full City, etc.). Can they legally be putting opium in the mix? I don’t think so. It’s a mystery.

Story: The shop is named after the owner’s son who passed away. I hope somebody remembers me like that.

Service: Friendly.

Decor: Nicer now that they repainted and fixed up a few things. They still got a big ol’ tree in the middle of the place, so that’s nice.

Food: Nice baked goods from New Day Bakery and Holy Freakin’ Vegan Donuts.

Drinks: Mrs. Olsen would be depressed about how she has wasted so many years of her life. (Did I just reveal my true age?).

Summary: Gee, this was really a quick review. Just go there and try a latte or cappuccino and see for yourself.

Update: Gary’s is going out of business as of Dec 31, 2010. Damn! I also learned that one of the big reasons for the great espresso-based drinks is that the beans are from Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Portland. The only other places in Eugene that use these same delicious beans are Vero (very crowded) and Market of Choice’s coffee shop. Unfortunately, the Market of Choice retail employees don’t quite have the process correct, so the flavor is not as good there.
