Taco Time
Mexican Fast Food
Many locations
Quick Review: Here we have a local clone of Taco Bell. I wonder if they have taken the basic Taco Bell theme and upgraded it with something a little special or more local or more handmade or whatever? No. They haven’t. It’s just a bad rip-off of Taco Bell but with prices 25% higher than Taco Bell. Some of their product offerings reveal their cluelessness about Mexican food. For example, their “soft taco” is obviously not a taco but instead a burrito. Their “crisp burrito” is not a burrito but actually a taquito (which technically is more popular in Puerto Rico than Mexico). Plus they offer “Mexi-fries”…which as the counter-person told me are basically Tater Tots. Of course, they have some extra spice added to them in order to justify the “Mexi-” part, right? No. They’re just Tater Tots. Further on the subject of taste, their fillings are very bland versus already-bland Taco Bell products.
So…if you’re looking for Mexican fast food that is similar to Taco Bell but with less taste, inaccurate product names, and 25% more expensive than Taco Bell…then bring it on in to Taco Time!

Not sure where you’re coming from, and definitely don’t want to promote taco time’s food, but taco time pre-dates taco bell by a few years, so it would be disingenuous and flat wrong to call it a knock off. It’s bad all on it’s own.

Hey, you’re right! Sorry ’bout that Taco Time. Too lazy to change my review though. Plus Taco Bell is so much more successful that Taco Time, maybe if I keep repeating my false info, it will become accepted knowledge…then I will be correct.

Man oh man… couldn’t disagree more. I really really like Taco Time, and not so much Taco Bell. TT uses fresh, mostly local ingredients where as TB uses… well, who knows? And, I know it got mentioned above… but TT is quite a few years older, and it is a local icon, that was not able to compete with TT nationally, because they refused to lower their quality standards to match TBs prices. Still, they have franchises all over, including Japan I think.
Taco Time is awesome.

The outlet that I visited was the former Howling Coyote BBQ and the renovation work was very minimal, i.e. not very nice. So that also put me off the whole TT experience. Maybe the other more well-decorated and cleaner outlets would give me a better impression.
Thanks for your input. By the way, I like your burger blog!
